I washed dishes, cleaned the catbox, and started laundry.
I still have to pack, drop stuff off at Goodwill, go to my psychiatrist appointment, fold clothes, and head out. I appreciate Kenny understanding my need to have a little space, I know this is hard for him but it is hard for me, too.
While just typing, I got a phone call from my credit card company asking if I was happy with the service. And then they offered to lower my interest rate 1%. Maybe that means this will be a good day!
So, here's the deal:
We have to put the house up for sale at fair market price (irregardless of our loan amount). If we receive an offer, we show it to the bank and apply for a short sale where the bank eats the loss. If there's no bids after 90 days, we apply to transfer the deed back to the bank. Should that happen, it will occur one of two ways. First, we turn over the house and the difference between the loan amount and fair market value hits our credit as an unpaid debt. Second, we turn it over and the bank just lets us walk away.
No matter what this will negatively impact our credit, but selling the house to a third party or having the bank just keep it (without charging the difference) are the best bets. Seeing as how there are five houses on my street currently for sale, I better just hope the bank feels generous. I started getting really nervous and upset on the phone; cut myself three times to make it through the conversation. Pretty sure spending over an hour on the phone with your mortgage company would do that to anybody.
Now comes the process of removing any extraneous items from the house (Goodwill ftw) and probably packing up some stuff so that we have time to really sort through it and make decisions about who gets what. This is a really busy week for me but I'm going to try and get as much done as I possibly can.
I think I'm going out of town this weekend. I need something positive to look forward to. Life is a little rough right now.
I e-mailed USAA this morning to ask them if I had any options about the mortgage. Neither one of us will be able to afford it, and I have doubts that (given the current market) we'll be able to sell it for the price of the mortgage. I don't want to abandon my financial obligation but if I don't have the money, I simply don't have it.
I need to spend more time out of Jacksonville, it was a good escape.
